Walsall Arena and Arts Centre

Under the Artistic Direction of Tony Adigun, Avant Garde Dance Company is at the forefront of London’s vibrant hip hop/contemporary dance scene. Illegal Dance is their latest offering exploring a future where artistic expression is forbidden by oppressive regimes around the world.

Every place has a story and Walsall Arena’s narrow corridors and stairwells invite you to discover the secrets of Illegal Dance. Come and fully immerse your senses as you follow the breadcrumb trail guiding you through a carefully curated selection of mini performances enhanced by lighting, sound and visuals, creating a stunning living installation. The immersive experience lasts 30 minutes, after which you’ll enter the main auditorium to enjoy the rest of the evening, which features live performance and a screening of the short film, The Rule of Seven.

Combining dynamic contemporary choreography with innovative technical stagecraft Illegal Dance portrays the tensions in a society that pits order against chaos, security against freedom, and individualism against collective will. Illegal Dance uses a synaesthetic blend of movement, music and design to pull at tangled narrative threads, explore complex character relationships, and expose fragile morality.

Illegal Dance is not to be missed.  Limited tickets are available for this exclusive experience so book now!
