ME Dance Company Presents

Wednesday 28 June 2023

1:30pm – Schools, colleges & Universities

7:30pm – Open to all

ME Dance brings to Walsall Arena & Arts Centre the untold story of Bella – the woman who lost everything in one breath. Based on the historical Black Country mystery of ‘Who put Bella in the Wych Elm?’ ME Dance try to uncover who she was, her life and links to her country.

Did black magic, relationships to the aristocracy, or even being a spy, play a hand in her demise?  Cocooned for 18 months in an isolated setting, entwined by the roots of an Elm tree, her name and life, is still a mystery shrouded in time.

Join us to follow in the journey through Bella’s eyes of restless ghost, as she tries to recall her last days through dance theatre, visual projection and music.

To this day, she has never been formally identified, and perhaps she never will be – so find your truth.

ME Dance Company was established by Marcia Edwards in 2017. She is a graduate of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance who has performed and taught both nationally and internationally with companies such as ACE Dance and Music, Motionhouse, Dida Dance Norway and State of Emergency. She regularly teaches for DanceXchange, Brum Pro Class, University of Wolverhampton and DMU and she has recently started to deliver workshops for Elmhurst Ballet School. ME Dance Company is the only professional company in the Black Country led by a Black-British Caribbean woman.
